Everything is Gonna Be Alright

It's been a stressful couple of months here in Big Hipster City.

Not all of the stress has been centralized to Big Hipster City, but some of it certainly has. Sadly the grim spector tends to be haunting these days and his grasp is effecting many... Some of them close and some not so close, but still cared for.

In addition to that, as if it weren't enough, are the daily pressures of life, including Best Boy's adventures and my own. It's enough to make us both ready for an excursion to Deco Dirt City, which will happen soon.

Tonight, though, we decided to put down the stresses of the world and simply enjoy being together. It rained tonight, hard and for most of the afternoon.. The weather was so ominous at one point that I decided against a run the grocery store, as it looked like the gates of hades were opening above downtown BHC. Eventually we did go... And when we got back and started making dinner this is what I saw out the back window..

Left side of the power lines

Over the power lines
Right side of the power lines.

I look my spinach dip and stood on the back porch snapping pictures and watching it glow and fade away and then glow again, so brightly that faint double rainbow appeared. As I watched it, I felt really calm... And I knew things would be alright.. Not right this second, but soon. In my head I could hear that little song... "everything is gonna be alright..."... ooh, how i hope so... and soon...

Dinner....

Almond Crusted Talapia on Saffron Rice with a fruit salsa (cantalope, mango, strawberry, jalapeno, and sugar). Best boy made everything but the rice from scratch. I made the rice from a bag. It was delicious! All of it! Best boy rocks!!

Random garden pictures:

Tomato plant with compost bin in the background.

Peppers, Heirloom Tomato, Basil
Sickly Basil, nursed back to health and sickly cilantro, being nursed back to health.

Look Mom! Thar be cats off the port bow!!

Photo Update

Here's the great project hanger... I put in a zipper in the cherry skirt on top. Five busted needs and curses at the plastic Invisible Zipper foot later, I realized that the Leopard print skirt needed a zipper on the other side of the seam. Blast!

And the tropical dress?! Beautiful, but won't go over my boobs. Anyone an XS?! It'll find it's way to Etsy.com

And here's the pile under it.. Another Leopard Wiggle Dress...

Which needs a zipper, and a hem, and a couple of other things and then it's done. And speaking of done!
TaDA!! 1950s Tropical Halter. I love this material!! I got it for $1.00 a yard at Wal-Fart a year ago. It was 60 inch wide cotton, and I've made two dresses, a bolero, two halter tops and a men's shirt out of it. I love IT! It fades a little with washing, but gets nice and soft and other then that seems to wear well! This one is on the Etsy pile. I've got one of my own already thank you!

And it's Teach and his crawfish/lobster toy. Before he destroyed it..

Forced Day Off

Today is my first day off in ages. Or at least it seems that way. The Grown-Up Job doesn't want me on the clock because it will cost them an arm and a leg to have me. The Fancy Gourmet Grocery was nice enough not to schedule me. I've been there so much that I do really need a day not being there. Ideally followed by another day not being there.

Best Boy is working at the theater this morning rebuilding stages and designing sets. Big Furry Dog is curled up on the couch alternately napping and watching CNN and then periodically checking on Big Fat Cat. Who is behind the recliner spying on Big Furry Dog.

And what am I doing? Well I promised myself what I would not do; A) No extreme cleaning. B) No day spent in front of the computer, because I do that enough every day. C) No thinking about work related issues for either job.

Instead, I am sewing. And taking small breaks to peak at various blogs and check out web addresses given to me by Fabulous Food Queen the other night over drinks. I've got a new dress completely cut out. Fabric for about six more sitting on the floor and stack of pre-determined patterns next to it. Next to hit the table. Cherry print cotton to be turned into a pencil Skirt. Leopard print cotton to meet the same fate. Heavy black cotton that I wish I'd bought the entire bold of to make into Capri pants.

What else will I do? I don't know. Best boy and I debated having people over. However the cave is too small to comfortably have visitors for any length of time. Instead we will probably back up Big Furry Dog and go down the Lake and watch the fireworks with 5 million of our closest friends.
