Cleaning

I cleaned out my "projects" closest today.

That is to say that I threw out a lot of stuff. And it felt good!! Really good.

The first thing I tossed.. A tropical printed bra top that I hated. HATED! I loved the pattern, and I cut two of them out. One I finished, save for the buttons and decided that while I like it, it's not up to "production" quality. Meaning, I'd wear it, or I'd give it to a friend to wear, but I wouldn't make it for sale with out some minor tweaking.

The second one of these that I cut out just sucked from the word go. The material pulled funny, there were strange marks on it that I didn't recognize (not good) and I had a hard time getting all the seems to line up. This morning, it found it's way into the trash can.

Followed shortly by the Asian printed pink and black Dress From Hell that I'd blogged about before. I saved the belt, because I'll use it for something else. But the dress, it had to go. It was nothing but a problem from the start. I knew the minute I cut it out that I should have fixed the paper pattern first. I hated the sleeves from the start and they just became more and more problematic as time wore on. This morning as I tried to finish them, I accidently sliced the sleeve body open and that was it. The final straw... Over she went, into the bin.

I put hours into that dress, and I feel like all I got was aggravation in return. It felt good to ditch it.

Then I raided by closest. I cut skirts off some dresses that i like the material well enough and then tossed the remaining bits.

I'm guilty of holding on to things too long an thinking 'I'll fix it later'... So it's hard to know what I've got that I can fix and what I can't fix. I can't keep doing that, all it does is stress me out.

I'm finally down to the small stack of things that I'll put on Etsy.com before too long and then i'll make a few things for myself to get me through the long hot summer.

Like light weight high waisted pants for working. And a halter dress in tropical fabric, for going out. And putting the zipper in my play suit.

God, I so need to do the same thing. I have a half dozen projects laying around in varying states of completion. It took me 3 weeks to manage to make myself a new batch of face wash - what makes me think I'll ever finish stripping and repainting a fricking picture frame?
